In one of our news articles in February we already wrote about the importance of data security. That article was about the conflict between the GDPR, Swiss data protection law and the US CLOUD Act and the implications for the processing of personal data (you can find the article [here](/news?id=45)). In this article we turn to physical data security. Our data is located in an Exoscale data centre in Zurich and does not leave Switzerland.

Exoscale is a Swiss provider of cloud hosting. They offer networks, storage and servers for cloud computing, as well as the associated services.

To ensure the security of the data, the data centres have numerous security mechanisms against the most important dangers such as: interruption of the power supply, fire, water damage, break-ins and theft. These security systems are very costly to purchase and to maintain and are state of the art.

The facilities are protected against power failures by an uninterruptible power supply with redundancy systems and emergency generators. Overheating is also prevented by a water cooling system. Fire protection is ensured by a state-of-the-art smoke detector system and a pressure lock. The data centres are also protected against break-ins. Access is only possible using RFID badges and biometric scanners. All glass is bulletproof and the facility is guarded around the clock by security officers. In addition, all rooms are monitored with video, recorders and motion detection devices to guard against theft.

For an SME, such an outlay on protective measures is barely feasible. It therefore makes absolute sense to host your cloud data on several servers in a data centre in Switzerland equipped with the most modern technology. As you can see, your data is in the best hands!
