If you want to note an important event or a milestone for a project, you can normally do this using the Event resources in the deployment plan. However, if no staff requirement has been defined for a week in the capacity plan, the project in question does not appear in the deployment plan either. That means you cannot note important events, such as a material delivery, using the Event resources. There is another way to do this: namely in the capacity plan, thanks to the level 0 setting.
How does it work?
In the capacity plan, right-click in the empty field of the relevant week for the project you want and select Extend with level 0 from the context menu. Starting from the weeks that already have a staff requirement through to the week now selected, level 0 is set for all the weeks in between. This extends the time frame of the project without changing the staff requirement of the respective week. Clicking the week field with level 0 again now lets you add a note, for example that a material delivery for the project arrives in this week.
As an alternative to right-clicking and extend with level 0, you can also left-click and drag across the fields you want to set to level 0 and select level 0.
Enjoy trying it out. In the next tips and tricks we show you an explanation of the project phases in Vanillaplan.
